Working conditions

Context

To better reconcile family life and work, Lesaffre International accompanied the opening of the crèche 1.2.3 Soleil in Marquette-lez-Lille with the support of the Works Council,

As a global key player in yeasts and fermentation, Lesaffre desings, manufactures and markets innovative solutions for Baking, Food taste & pleasure, Health Care and Biotechnology. Family group in northern France in 1853, now a multi-national and a multicultural company, Lesaffre employs 8 300 people.

Objectives

Simplify employees' daily lives, in their role as young parents, by providing high-quality day care services with an environmental emphasis (bioclimatic and passive energy building, eco-friendly building materials, a-double flux ventilation system, organic menus, etc.), in close proximity to their workplace and open on an extended schedule.

APPROACH

In September 2010, Lesaffre International financially sponsored the opening of a "1, 2, 3 Soleil" day care center built in strict accordance with an environmental and ecological charter. The company's Works Council actively contributed to the project's successful completion. This care facility for children between the ages of 2½ months and 4 years offers 15 spaces to company personnel. The very positive results of a satisfaction survey conducted in 2011 have reinforced the merits of this project.

Besides an innovative strategy in favor of services to accommodate families, solid support for parents' roles and the social integration of disabled children, this center has been certified by the Maternal and Child Welfare Office and moreover serves organic-labeled food. All personal care products used at the facility are eco-friendly, as are the cleaning products.
