AUCHAN creates the nation’s first fast-charging stations for electric vehicles (EV)

4. Environment

Sustainable mobility

Context

Auchan wanted to prove once more that they are responsibly committed, by offering this innovative and fast service to reduce its customers’ and collaborators’ greenhouse gas emissions, and propose a different method of locomotion.

Objectives

To install 130 “quick charging” stations on all Auchan stores and thus propose to customers to limit their impact on the environment while enabling them to drive longer thanks to the creation of a quick service (30 minutes to fill one tank) and the creation of electric corridors (long-distance).

APPROACH

Signature of an exclusive win-win partnership with the NISSAN company, the 1st mass retail brand to create this type of network.

Creation of a new service and a network of quick charging stations on the country level (24/7).

Inauguration of the first station installed on March 26th, 2014 next to the store in Mantes-Buchelay. This is a permanent operation.

Best Practice spotted by World Forum for a Responsible Economy in 2014 and updated in 2016.
