MOBIVIA GROUP adopts management adapted to environmental challenges

1. Organizational Governance

Strategy and organization

Context

An international group present in 16 countries, Mobivia Group is the European leader in maintenance and equipment for multiple brands of vehicles, serving more than 20 million drivers. Mobivia Group has more than 10,400 employees divided into six activities and 13 enterprises federated by the same mission: to ensure that people can benefit from sustainable mobility.

Pollution related to automobiles and their use are considerable: nearly 20% of total greenhouse gas emissions are related to transportation, and numerous automobile components have a major impact on the environment if they are not recycled (tires, batteries, oil, etc.). That is why Mobivia Group has decided to act for the environment.

Objectives

  • Generate value from used products related to the activity
  • Control the environmental impact

APPROACH

To meet these challenges, Mobivia Group in 1995 implemented concrete actions to protect the environment. A few examples of this approach:

Deployment of Environmental Management Systems (SME) in the Group (ISO 14001 standard at Norauto France since 10 years)

Optimization of waste management:

  • Deployment of channels to generate value from used products at Norauto France (since 1995) and adhesion to eco-organisms (enterprises accredited by the authorities to handle equipment at end of life): tires, batteries, packaging…
  • Since 2012, adhesion to EcoDDS (Eco-organism dedicated to Specific Toxic Wastes): filters, cooling liquids, etc.

Optimization of energy consumption:

  • Implementation of automatic shut-off systems for signs and light sensors at Norauto Portugal
  • Energy audit and ad-hoc action plan at Norauto Poland
  • Installation of certain group activities within environmentally-friendly buildings (e.g. the new warehouse of Synchro Diffusion).

Optimization of goods transport (transport of goods by river and rail) and human travel (implementation of carpooling)…

Best Practice spotted by the Wold Forum 2013 and updated in 2015.
