Strategy and organization

Context

An independent and international family group for promotion and building, Rabot Dutilleul is one of the ten leading actors in France in the civil engineering area. Founded in 1920 in the city of Lille, the company developed its skills in the complementary businesses tied to construction, thus acquiring nearly total mastery of the real estate chain. Rabot Dutilleul cultivates values based on group performance, with nearly 1,850 employees, and aims to establish long-lasting relationships with its partners. Present in France, Belgium and Poland, the Group is held at 85% by the Dutilleul family and at 15% by employees. Each year, the Group states its CSR strategy in a reporting document that is updated annually.

Objectives

Present a unified document to all stakeholders to enable them to know the strategy and sustainable development actions implemented by the Group and its subsidiaries

APPROACH

Stating the CSR strategy relies first of all on the Group's CSR practices; in turn, these practices respond to the objective of carrying out real estate operations that improve the territory with respect to the three pillars of sustainable development (economic, social and environmental added value).

This statement is based on three recognized external and internal standards:

  • The ISO 26000 standard (Nacarat has been certified ISO 26000 since2012)
  • The Global Reporting Initiative standard – G4 + specific supports in the civil engineering sector (https://www.globalreporting.org/)
  • The Alliances Network standard

The report is made of files (written in French) that are classified by a number identifying the standard they are based on. Each file corresponds to an indicator and is associated to a document providing proof of a concrete illustration of this indicator.

This approach is backed by the Rabot Dutilleul Group: each indicator is thus represented on a company-wide scale. If they are specificities in any of the subsidiaries, they have their own file.

The first version was created in 2015 and was updated in 2016.

Early in 2016, AFNOR evaluated the company on the basis of this report and gave it a grade of 67/100. The average for all sectors is 45/100, while the average for civil engineering is less than 40/100. AFNOR conclusion: Rabot Dutilleul is a responsible company with respect to its sustainable development criteria.
