KILOUTOU fosters equal opportunities for troubled youngsters

2. Human Rights

Diversity, equal opportunity, and fighting discrimination

Context

Kiloutou hires out a wide range of Civil Engineering plant, lifting equipment, multiple hire tools and offers numerous services to its clients (94% businesses).

The project "2020 vision YES!", co-created in 2010 with all employees, takes the form of 14 challenges launched on cross-functional subjects. A strong commitment to CSR runs through them. One of these actions is a training school that Kiloutou has set up.

Between 2010 and 2015 the company embarked on a series of acquisitions, which doubled the size of its network to 400 branches. To meet the growing requirements of its customers and its main shareholder, and in response to strong demand from within, a structured approach to sustainable development was launched in 2013. It's Kiloutou's "Challenge 13"!

Objectives

  • To foster social advancement.
  • To promote the values of the company internally.

APPROACH

In 2013, Kiloutou set up a training school in Marcq-en-Baroeul, in partnership with the Institut Saint-Louis d’Armentières (Nord) specializing in technical subjects.

  • 11 young people who were troubled but highly motivated were selected with the help of EPIDE (a public integration body), local organizations and the "Second-Chance School" in Saint-Omer.
  • 13-month training aimed at becoming a "Maintenance Technician for Civil Engineering & Handling Plant and Equipment". Supervision by a Kiloutou tutor throughout the training course.
  • Professional qualification equivalent to a Bac Pro.
  • After four months at the Institut Saint-Louis, a guaranteed job at one of Kiloutou's branches on a permanent contract.

The company also sponsors 2 students, in partnership with the association Arélie, providing 2 types of support: a contribution to funding their studies and an introduction to the world of work.

  •  In November 2014, 11 young people were hired as permanent employees.
  • 8 more young people were recruited in 2015.
