KILOUTOU fosters internal training and promotion from within

3. Labor relations / working conditions

Human capital development

Context

Kiloutou hires out a wide range of Civil Engineering plant, lifting equipment, multiple hire tools and offers numerous services to its clients (94% businesses).

The project "2020 vision YES!", co-created in 2010 with all employees, takes the form of 14 challenges launched on cross-functional subjects.  A strong commitment to CSR runs through them. The company also pays particular attention to the professional development of its staff.

Between 2010 and 2015 the company embarked on a series of acquisitions, which doubled the size of its network to 400 branches.

Objectives

  • To guarantee working conditions that uphold Human Rights and ensure safety and wellbeing at work for all staff.
  • To foster social advancement.
  • To promote the values of the company internally.

APPROACH

Kiloutou is working to develop the skills of all its staff. E-learning modules and a training catalog are made available to them. There are several training modules on offer: an "integration course" for new arrivals in the Training College and an integration pathway alternating placements in branches and sessions at the College. For the support services, the head of department sets up a personalized pathway and all new employees must do an internship in the field.

Kiloutou also encourages promotion from within to allow its staff to develop professionally

  • Assessment and development interviews throughout the year between managers and team members allow careers development options to be exchanged and identified, then to become conceivable.
  • Every year, the Human Resources Manager travels round each region to assess the outcome of these interviews.

E-learning modules allow remote monitoring and testing without having to travel. The catalog offers training in English, cross-functional or hierarchical management . With the "2020 vision YES!" project, the "integration course" has evolved to cover workshops on equipment handling, a module on invoicing and a full day devoted to careers in building and civil engineering, which make up most of our customer base.

CONTRIBUTION TO COMPANY PERFORMANCE

  • In 2014, 1900 team members took at least one training course.
  • 800 days of training per year for equipment team members.
  • 16 hours of training per year for each team member.
  • 75% of training time devoted to practical subjects and the use of equipment.

Benefits

  • In 2013, 340 jobs were offered internally.
  • More than 50% of executives and supervisors are the product of promotion from within.
