The Rossel La Voix Group is committed to streamlining transportation relative to its daily activities

Sustainable mobility

The Rossel Voix Group has for several years been pursuing a Sustainable Development approach. Among these initiatives at the Group level, special attention has been paid over the last two years to the trips being generated by its activity.

Streamlining the use of transportation resources under two main categories:

  • freight transport (distribution of newspapers and administrative travel)
  • employees' professional trips.

Streamlining of freight transport: Reorganization of distribution routes:- Elimination of routes in Belgium and the Paris metropolitan area; preference for the rail mode, with the TGV high-speed train for Paris.- Reorganization of scheduling and consolidation of certain routes (weekly sports on Mondays, TV inserts on Fridays and women's supplement on Saturdays), for savings estimated at 1 day of transportation. Reduction in the number of vehicles and trips:- Decrease from 12 to 4 the number of transportation services contracted to handle deliveries thanks to improved organization.- Removal of inter-site shuttle service during July 2012, a policy change equivalent to 13 routes and 2,000 kilometers per week.
Streamlining of personal transportation:- Decrease from 20 to 13 vehicles the number of vehicles participating in car-sharing. This reduction also generated a significant drop in the number of trips. - Awareness-building among Head Office staff regarding more efficient commute trips.- Geo-localization of vehicles operated in car-sharing mode and more demanding procedures implemented when placing vehicles in service.- Test conducted on the use of electric bicycles for short-distance trips.
A dual purpose of promoting sustainable development and achieving savings:- Involvement and oversight of employees- Intelligent use of new technologies in order to improve existing practices.

  • Cost savings relative to transportation, in addition to reduced outlays for vehicle maintenance.
  • Reorganization favoring time savings and improved visibility of distribution routes.

A sharp decline in the use of transportation resources:
  • 35% less fuel consumption between 2011 and 2012, fewer CO2 emissions with thousands of kilometers avoided each week.
  • 13 vehicles in 2012 (vs. 20 in 2011) for 10,569 liters of fuel (vs. 16,464 liters consumed in 2011), for a savings of 5,895 liters (35%).
  • Removal of inter-site shuttle service : savings estimated at 1 day of transportation, equivalent to 5,600 kilometers, per week.
Employees made more aware of the sustainability challenge, encouraged to adopt more responsible behavior.
