1. Organizational Governance

Strategy and organization

Context

Janus France, created in 2013 by Michel Meunier, works in the maintenance and renovation of built heritage with a long-term vision to protect and preserve human, land and natural capital. Specialized in the three trades of carpentry, locksmithing and glazing, its main clients are the State, local authorities and social landlords, as well as private companies and individuals.

As a social business in July 2020, Janus France is committed to 5 main areas: environment, social, economic, societal and governance. In order to measure the impact of its practices, Janus France has first adhered to the BIOM approach, then carried out a carbon assessment and undertaken a universal compatibility approach. This work is carried out with the stakeholders gathered in a mission committee.

At Janus France, 55% of the turnover is redistributed on the territory, 80% of purchases are local.

Objectives

  • Develop a national network of agencies specialized in the maintenance and renovation of public and private property around the integrated trades of carpentry, locksmithing, glazing and occultation.
  • To embrace and encourage its stakeholders to begin a responsible and innovative transition process.
  • Participate in the preservation of the common land heritage for the comfort and good living of all.

APPROACH

The status of Social business has enabled Janus France to structure its CSR approach around 5 priority areas, broken down into statutory objectives, concrete actions and monitoring indicators.

For example, the Biom indicator revealed that when Janus France delivers a service for 100 euros, 55 euros are redistributed in the region for the benefit of social actions, economic development and efforts to preserve the environment.

The carbon assessment carried out for scops 1, 2 & 3 has enabled them to evaluate their impact, which amounts to 584 T CO2 for the year 2020, and to identify the source in order to control this data.

Environmental area

  • Drastically reduce waste. All waste (wood, cardboard, paper, plastic, glass) is sorted, recovered and processed. Steel, stainless steel and aluminum and PVC are 100% recycled.
  • Eco-responsible product referencing and product life cycle analysis.
  • Advising customers if their interventions disturb ecosystems and biodiversity (swallow nests for example).

Social area

  • Act in favor of the feminization of trades for access to women in the construction world by hiring an agency manager in January 2022.
  • Make employees aware of the risks of accidents at work.
  • Train its human capital and offer a social elevator by hiring, for example, a work-study student on a permanent contract in June 2021.

Economic area

  • Diversify the customers to perpetuate the activity.
  • Model the deployment of agencies at the regional and then national level.
  • Share fairly the result of a controlled economic growth.
